Shearing and Fleece |

Our sheep are fall sheared by Jerry Kelleher, multi time winner of the Royal Agricultural Winter Fair Shearing Competition. Because ours is a converted dairy barn, the sheep would be too warm if they wore their full coats through the winter. Each sheep produces five to eight pounds of fleece once a year. |

High quality Leicester white or naturally coloured fleeces usually go to hand spinners or other craftspeople. Most of our Down fleeces go to the Wool Cooperative. |
Fall shearing helps to keep the pens drier and cleaner, and makes it easier for new babies to find mama’s milk supply. |
