Welcome to the Newhope Sheep Flock |
Dozens of cute babies make their appearance, and the barn is soon filled with bouncing babies. Lambs grow incredibly fast, and by the time they go outside for the summer, they are much larger and stronger. |
The flock spends the summer on pasture, the lambs frolicking and playing as any youngsters do, the ewes grazing peacefully on lush grasses. |
By autumn, the lambs have grown nearly as large as their mothers, and have been weaned. The cycle begins again in the fall as the rams and ewes enter a new breeding season. |
The Newhope flock began in 1975 with a few commercial ewes. Over the years, we have had a number of breeds represented. Our current flock is mainly commercial Dorset, with a smaller wool flock of Border Leicester in both white and coloured fleece. |
